Our Story

Emarie and Marty, the granddaughter and grandmother duo behind Straccio Rico Wayuu Bags, have a deep love and appreciation for the cultural heritage and the art of Wayuu mochila weaving. Since discovering the Wayuu people, they have been fascinated by the beauty and complexity of the handwoven mochila bags.

In 2018, they decided to start their own brand, Straccio Rico Wayuu Bags, in order to share their love of this cultural art form with the world. They knew that by creating and selling these bags, they could not only preserve and celebrate the traditions of the Wayuu people, but also provide a source of income and empowerment for their community.

For Emarie and Marty, Straccio Rico Wayuu Bags is more than just a business – it's a way to honor the Wayuu cultural heritage and pass down the art of Wayuu mochila weaving to future generations. They pour their hearts and souls into every bag they create, and it shows in the quality and beauty of their products.

Emarie and Marty are proud to be able to share the rich cultural traditions of the Wayuu people with the world through their brand, Straccio Rico Wayuu Bags. They hope that these bags will bring joy and beauty to the lives of those who own them, while also helping to preserve and celebrate the cultural heritage of the Wayuu people.
